It all began in 2012, when Texas photographer Elizabeth Wisdom posted a scenic photo of Crater Lake in Oregon on her Instagram page. A man named Denis Lafargue from New Orleans saw it and commented on the photo. Elizabeth replied, and a friendship blossomed.
Three months later, Elizabeth flew to New Orleans and the two met for the first time. Of course, their weekend was chronicled on Instagram. "Staying with @denislafargue for the weekend," she wrote. "Thanks for showing me around and making this an awesome weekend!"
Soon after that, the two became a couple. "It's official guys, @elizabeth_wisdom is my Instalady! Instagram is the new Match.com," wrote Denis.
This past summer, Denis took Elizabeth to her grandmother's barn and asked her to marry him. The proposal was Instagram-themed.
"At the back door I had set up a 30-picture timeline of Elizabeth's and my Instagram posts leading to the barn," explained Denis. "It started with when we made our IG accounts, to when I followed her last summer, the posts where we started flirting, the post when I got her phone #, the process of us 'talking', us skyping, her coming to New Orleans for the first time, our LumberJack photo shoot, Christmas, our birthdays, Valentine's Day, our trip to Austin, the beach, our families finally meeting last weekend, and everything in between!"
"I just proposed to @elizabeth_wisdom out at her grandma's barn!!! I'm getting married to my best friend!!!" he wrote afterwards, posting a photo of their special moment.
The two are now planning their nuptials. We anticipate their wedding photos to be square-cropped, filtered, and absolutely lovely.
